Internships
If you have ever wanted to first-hand experience with the community responsibilities and legislative duties of a Member of Congress, than an internship in the office of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter may be the perfect experience for you. Interning in a Congressional office will provide you with an unparalleled knowledge and understanding in the development of public policy and governmental affairs. Louise offers Congressional internships in Washington, D.C., and her Rochester office. As an intern in Louise’s Washington office, you will draft letters to constituents, attend committee hearings, write summary briefs, research various issues for the legislative staff, and assist with office duties. Interns in Louise’s Rochester office work directly with the staff on issues involving constituent concerns and requests. In both offices, interns are given substantial responsibilities and are an integral part of the team. To be eligible to intern, you must be a college students or recent graduate. Priority is given to residents of the 25th Congressional District of New York, although all interested students are encouraged to apply. While there are deadlines for internship applications, we encourage you to submit your Internship Application as soon as possible.

It is very important that you submit your application for financial aid as soon as possible. Federal Student Aid is awarded on an "as needed basis", and those who apply first have the best chance and securing financial assistance. Congressional Arts Competition All high school students in Louise’s district are eligible to compete in the New York 25th Congressional District High School Art Contest. While the deadline for submissions for the 2013 Arts Competition has passed, the 2014 Arts Competition will begin in a matter of months.
